Produce Collector

Where: Visiting various allotment sites in Aberdeen, and at the CFINE warehouse.

Time commitment: Approximately 3 hours on Thursday afternoons for the growing season (mid-July to end-Oct). Only as many Thursdays as you are available, so it could be each week or even just a one-off.

Role description:  The Allotment Market Stall provides good-quality, well-priced, locally grown fruit and vegetables and reduces waste. We have volunteering opportunities helping to collect produce from allotment sites and deliver it to the warehouse and to record amounts.

Main tasks:  

  • Visit allotment sites
  • May have contact with allotment holders
  • Help load/unload produce into van
  • Help weigh and record amounts of produce collected

Desired skills, qualities and experience:

  • Some lifting ability
  • Ability to handle fruit and vegetables
  • Enjoy being part of a small team and meeting people

Training and support: Full training will be given and you will be accompanied.

Market Stall Volunteer

Where:  TAMS, at either Duthie Park or Seaton Park, Aberdeen

Time commitment: 2-3 hours Friday morning or afternoon for the growing season (mid-July to early Oct). Shifts can be flexible according to your availability. 

Role description:  TAMS provide good-quality, well-priced, locally grown fruit and vegetables and reduce waste. We have opportunities this season for volunteers to be a part of running our veg stall in the parks.

Main tasks:  

  • Sell fruit and vegetables to the public
  • Help record amounts sold
  • Help promote The Allotment Market Stall and its values of growing and eating good stuff

Desired skills, qualities and experience:

  • Friendly and enjoy speaking to people
  • Knowledge of growing (and cooking) desirable
  • Willingness to share knowledge, tips and tricks
  • Able to handle small amounts of cash
  • Enjoy being outdoors

Training and support: Full training will be given. Volunteers will be accompanied and supported at all times.
